Privacy Policy for ajiwai
Effective date: August 3, 2026 · Last updated: August 3, 2026
ajiwai (味わい) comes from the Japanese word meaning flavor, taste, or savor. It also describes the subtle charm, emotional depth, or unique appeal of an experience, a work of art, or an object.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and the choices available to you when you use https://ajiw.ai or related services (collectively, the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
Depending on the features you use, we may collect:
- Room photographs. Images you upload so the Service can analyze features such as color, layout, scale, lighting, and interior style and provide artwork recommendations. Today, room photographs are analyzed entirely within your browser and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Preferences and project information. Information such as preferred styles, colors, price range, room type, artwork dimensions, saved recommendations, and feedback.
- Account and contact information. Your name, email address, account credentials, and communications with us if you create an account, join a waitlist, or contact us.
- Transaction or referral information. If you follow a link to an artist, gallery, or retailer, we may receive limited information indicating that a referral or purchase occurred. We do not directly collect or store full payment-card information unless this is clearly disclosed at the time of purchase.
Please do not upload photographs containing people, government identification, financial information, medical information, visible mail, precise addresses, computer screens, or other sensitive personal information. You are responsible for having permission to upload the images you submit.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information, including:
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser and device type
- Operating system
- Pages viewed and features used
- Dates, times, and approximate duration of visits
- Error, security, and diagnostic logs
- Referring pages and general geographic region inferred from an IP address
We may use essential cookies or similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember settings, prevent abuse, and understand whether the Service is functioning properly. If we later use nonessential analytics or advertising cookies where consent is required, we will provide an appropriate notice and choice.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Analyze uploaded room photographs and provide artwork recommendations
- Personalize recommendations based on your stated preferences and interactions
- Create, maintain, and secure user accounts
- Operate, troubleshoot, test, and improve the Service
- Respond to questions, support requests, and feedback
- Detect fraud, misuse, security incidents, and technical problems
- Measure referrals and compensate or receive compensation from participating artists, galleries, or retailers
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our terms
Use of artificial intelligence
The Service may use computer-vision, machine-learning, or other artificial-intelligence systems to analyze visual characteristics and rank or retrieve relevant artwork. The Service is intended to recommend human-created artwork; it does not use your room photograph to generate replacement artwork.
We do not use user-uploaded room photographs to train, fine-tune, or otherwise improve generative-AI or machine-learning models without separate, explicit permission from the affected user and, where applicable, express authorization from relevant rights holders.
Some analysis may be performed by contracted technology providers acting on our behalf. They may process uploaded images and related instructions solely to provide the requested functionality, subject to contractual and legal restrictions.
3. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. To hosting, storage, security, analytics, communications, and AI-processing providers that help operate the Service and are permitted to use information only for contracted purposes.
- Artists, galleries, and retailers. When you choose to visit or transact with a third-party seller. The third party's own privacy policy applies to information it collects directly from you.
- Legal and safety purposes. When reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests; protect rights and safety; investigate fraud or misuse; or enforce our agreements.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of the project, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
- With your direction or consent. When you ask us to disclose information or clearly consent to a particular disclosure.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:
- Room photographs analyzed in your browser are never transmitted to our servers. If we later offer features that store photographs (such as saved projects), stored photographs will be deleted within 30 days after processing unless you deliberately save them as part of an ongoing project; saved photographs remain until you delete the project or your account.
- Account information and saved preferences are retained while your account is active and for a limited period afterward when needed for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
- Routine technical and security logs are generally deleted or de-identified within 90 days, unless a longer period is required to investigate abuse or comply with law.
We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you.
